Lumiere

What is Lumiere?

Lumiere is the UK's largest light festival, and is returning over the Viking Rally weekend to light up Durham with a programme of spectacular artwork. Each Lumiere festival invites local and international artists to create works that reimagine familiar buildings and public spaces, changing the way we experience

Tickets

Since launching booking, Lumiere have advertised that entry to the central peninsula of Durham, where 9 of the exhibitions are, will be ticketed. Previously this was only the case for late afternoon / early evening, but it's been extended to the full evening so they can ensure safe numbers because of COVID-19. Please also be aware that the two installations inside Durham Cathedral will not be accessible during the evening - if you are in Durham during the Saturday afternoon, you may wish to visit them then.

These tickets are available free of charge. You will however have to purchase them individually or, if you happen to live with others also interested, up to 6 per household. You should also be prepared to show them digitally or come to rally with them printed. The general release of these tickets takes place Thursday 21st October at 10:00am. We would advise booking tickets for the 20:00 slot, so you can start your adventure of Lumiere there, however the 21:00 slot would also work if you visited the other artworks first. You can book your tickets, and find out more information on the Lumiere website.

We have now been advised that both the 20:00 & 21:00 slots are sold out. You are still welcome to attend, however will be limited to the exhibitions outside of the ticketed central pensilua.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in contact, however if it's specific to the booking of tickets you may be better directing it to lumiere@artichoke.uk.com.
