Saturday Morning / All Day Activities
Beamish Open Air Museum (All Day) Full
THIS IS AN ALL DAY ACTIVITY. Beamish is a world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s and 1950s. Ride the historic trams and buses, learn more about the North East's history and maybe even have a cheeky Fish and Chips cooked in a wood burning fryer! Please remember to bring a student card with you.

Metro Line Pub Crawl (All Day) Full
THIS IS AN ALL DAY ACTIVITY. Tyne and Wear is home to the 3rd busiest light rail system in the UK and with 60 stations and 50 miles of track, there are plenty of pubs on the way! Take the coastal loop and discover the best pubs that Newcastle and North Tyneside has to offer! Due to the nature of the crawl, having to stick to fairly rigid timings to catch certain metros to make it all the way round in time, it will be necessary to keep up the pace throughout this activity. PLEASE NOTE: You will have to buy your own Metro All Zones Day Ticket. This costs £5.40.

Easy Hike (All Day) Nearly Full
THIS IS AN ALL DAY ACTIVITY Hike around Hadrian's Wall, built by the Romans to keep out the Troublesome Tribes from Scotland. Luckily for all Scottish SSAGOers, here at Viking Rally we are a lot more friendly than the Ancient Romans! You will be out in the elements for the day, so please wear sensible clothing for the forecast and footwear. Please also ensure you bring a sufficiently large water bottle. Details of the route can be found on OS Maps. Whilst you should be finished in daylight, we would encourage you to bring a torch (ideally a headtorch) along too, just in case.

Hard Hike (All Day) Nearly Full

Come play the most technologically advanced Monopoly Run a SSAGO rally has ever seen, allowing everyone on it to get a whistle stop tour of Newcastle City Centre! Its a canny place to explore!

Durham Cathedral & Castle Full
A world famous UNESCO Heritage site, the Castle and Cathedral have been used as filming locations for Hollywood Blockbusters such as Harry Potter and Avengers: Endgame and now you can visit too! You will get a guided tour of the castle, and then the opportunity to wonder around the cathedral yourself. If you, or a small group of you, wish to climb up to the top of the central tower, you're welcome to arrange this on the day and do so, however please be aware there is a cost of £5.50 associated with this.

Durham Cafe Crawl Full

Viking Weapons Training Full
Have a go at training to become a Viking with both the more commonplace axe and more prestigious bow and arrows! This activity will be back at the campsite, and you'll be getting a full session on both the tomahawk and archery ranges, so you'll have plenty of time to harness your inner Viking!

Beach Stroll
The North Tyneside coast is one of the best in the UK, with not one, not two, but three amazing coastal towns to walk through. On this walk you will see the Beautiful Tynemouth Castle, the amazing Cullercoats cliffs and caves, and the Spanish City at Whitley Bay and more! Victoria Tunnels Tour Full

InflateSpace
InflateSpace is a massive bouncy castle play area full of fun arenas to bounce around, obstacle courses to race on and bouncy games to beat your friends at! Perfect for any SSAGOer who wants to let out a tonne of energy for an hour! PLEASE NOTE: You will need to purchase a One Zone Day Return Metro Ticket, which costs £3.30. You will also have to sign an waiver with the bounce arena prior to attending. Link will be emailed out in due course to people on this activity. You are advised to wear long sleeved tops and trousers.

Bouldering Full
It's time to find out who is the best rock climber in SSAGO at one of the best Bouldering Arenas in the North East - Climb Newcastle's The Valley. Unfortunately, due to rules in place by the venue due to COVID-19, novices are not allowed to boulder (even with a competent adult) without having completed an induction lesson, so we are sadly having to restrict this to those that have been bouldering before and would consider yourself a no longer a "novice". PLEASE NOTE: If you require bouldering shoes, you will have to hire shoes, at an additional cost of £3.25, when at the arena.

Saturday Evening Activities (Expression of Interest)
Ceilidh (20:00-22:00)
The ceilidh is a SSAGO Rally tradition for the Saturday evening. If you're a complete novice to these traditional country dances, do not worry, you'll be given instructions for each dance.

Lumiere (20:00~22:00)
If you fancy something different, why not join us in Durham for the UK's largest light festival. Lumiere transforms the historic city of Durham with a programme of light installations created by local and international artists who reimagine buildings and public spaces. We will be providing shuttles into Durham after tea (~20:00), and back to site a couple of hours later (~22:00). Please note, you will need to book your own free tickets for this event to access the central peninsula - more information available here.
